How long do you take to wash your car?
#21
I spend AT MOST 1.5 hours to wash, dry, wheels, interior. What takes you guys so long? I don't even rush and it looks like its fresh off the showroom when I'm done. Maybe it's cause I'm young lol.

3 hours or more because I just have fun doing it, probably the best feeling I have is when im cleaning my car or just driving it. When my new iphone comes in I will post pics! I dont even like to take it out in the rain anymore...the same goes with the mustang=)

Less than one hour of actual washing, excluding prep for washing. This is just the exterior of the vehicle, and includes the drying which takes as long if not longer than the washing. The fine cleaning is done when I move the vehicle inside, which might be door jams, under hood, trunk lid, vacuuming, wheel waxing and tire dressing.
Periodically, I finish my detail on a lift. I then clean the suspension, polish the exhaust and all the plastic areas. Since these vehicles never see rain they stay clean, except for what the roadway adds.

Washing only takes me maybe 20 minutes tops but it's the drying the car and wiping down all the door jams and gas cap area and trunk and under the hood that makes the time add up. When I clean the car I like to really clean it not just cover the areas that someone would see just walking up to the car when it's parked.
When I was selling my Sti the guy that ended up buying it kept telling me that he just thought the car was going to be too good to be true and surely something wouldn't be as clean or nice about it as I was talking it up to be. He was very impressed to say the least and that was with a white car. If you had looked at the door jams you'd think the car had 5 miles on it. The little extra care goes a long way. I managed to sell the car for $1000 less than I paid for it and that was after having it for 6 months and putting 15,000 miles on it.
I will say one reason I do spend the amount of time I do now is because the car is black. When I had my silverstone I could spend a bit less time under the hood and door jams and sills and all of those other areas b/c spots just didn't show up like they do on a black car. In general that car took less effort to look good.
