This is complicated? I was wondering if there was a good 3 or 4 step program. Becuase it sounds like you guys are going through 5+ step programs which would take forever? What do you guys use to clean the top and keep it from fading? What is a bird pooped on my top....two spots....

I use a product called Lexyol for the top, they also make a good leather conditioner. You can get it at Pep Boys. The water will really bead up on the top after you use it and it gives the top a nice deep black color.I'm sure you'll like it.

RSXtypeR,
What JonasM did was a complete surface preparation before applying any polish. It doesn't matter what product you use, the result you get in the end will depend on the surface preparation you do in the beginning.
The clay bar process is a little time consuming, but the surface on the car will never be cleaner. You would probably be surprised at the gunk that is on your paint.
JonasM is home free now. The finish on his car will be very easy to maintain. It will take him probably no more that 30 minutes to apply a subsequent coat of polish to his car.
In between polish coats, he will be able to maintain the finish by regular washing and using the Z-6 Gloss Enhancer.
It really isn't as complicated as it sounds.

What STreece said.
Since my car was brand new, and everyone talks about the rail dust embedded in the paint from shipping, I thought I might as well get really picky and do the full treatment right away (with this weather we've been having, I can't drive her much, and I've got her stored in a semi-heated garage with hot and cold water available, so what else am I gonna do until the good weather comes?)
I'm not planning on doing this every weekend - after a couple more coats I'm expecting to only do a normal wash & quick Z6 spray maybe every couple weeks. Should be no big deal - more like a '2-step' program once the prep work is done.

You don't use Dawn for every wash right? Right now I'm doing a cheap $3 Turtle Wax wash with "Liquid Glass" on top. And I use Meguiars Quik Detailer occasionally. Is that good? My friend told me that I shouldn't claybar since my car is still new, but I heard there's still a lot of raildust on the paint.
