How do you view swirl marks w/o sunlight?
So, I can see my swirl marks under sunlight, clear as day However, since I am doing all of the paint work out of the sun in the garage (usually under fluorescent light in the evening) I do not have access to the perfect swirl detector mother nature gave us. The only scratches I can pick up are the deeper ones, other than that, the paint always looks deceivingly perfect. What are people using to check their swirls sans sunlight?

even just a flashlight will show swirls in the dark-
best are the halogens that you see here. can get those at most building supply places (home depot, lowes, etc.)

The rig with the halogens does look effective. Do they throw off a different light than regular incadescents? I tried using a regular incadescent bulb on a drop light tonight and I was still unable to see swirls

the best is a combo of both, but if i had to choose i would prob go all halogen.

Inspection Lighting- to inspect the paint finish for surface marring - Sunlight, Xenon, 500W halogen, or a high pressure sodium-vapour (parking lot lights)
a) Brinkmann REI - most LED

when I wax in the garage, i have a ton of florescent lights all at different levels and angles. It lights up everything really nice. It helps when you are tryint to get rid of swirls.
