You might give this idea a try before replacing your windshield. It would make an inexpensive temporary fix if it works.

OP here. This is exactly what I was talking about. I wanted to see if there was any other method out there other than replacement. I don't think I will be using liquid wrench on the windshield but maybe Rain-X as it also contains silicone.

I just wanted to see if anyone else had experience with this method before I tried it. I think I will go the rain-X route and let you all know how it turns out. I don't mind re-applying after every wash or rain. I think I will wait to replace the windshield until it is cracked. Thanks

^^
Ok, if that doesn't work, you could try a specific glass sealant and see if it works. Just a thought.

Glass sealant ain't going to do anything for all those pits. My windshield is presently sealed with Aquapel. When the light hits the windshield at just the right angle, all of the pits light up like Christmas tree bulbs.

You can give the Liquid Wrench solution a try, but I'm skeptical. I just don't believe there are any fixes for the micro-pits. Save your pennies for a replacement windshield. That's what I'm doing.

Same same on the 06' I recently purchased. Glad to know it's not unique the my car. Anyhoo after several cleanings with windex and clean cotton towels,I tried something non-conventional since I felt I had nothing to lose. I applied Kit car wax liquid to a damp sponge and using the standard circular motions with liberal pressure applied a coat.Let dry..then buffed off with a clean dry cotton hand towel. It didn't make it perfect by any means but it did look better as it masked a lot of the less deep chips and left the windshield crystal clear.

Since my insurance is $500 deductible, I just bought windshields for the wife's Grand Marquis and her F-250. Shop quoted $240 for each. I asked, "Discount for cash?" Cash price was $200 each. 2 mile drive to the ATM saved me $40.

YMMV

Replace the windshield. Micro-pitts can't be removed and any sealant or treatment is temporary at best.

About replacing the rubber trim, did the glass company have it/buy it or did you have to buy it and give it to them when they replaced the window?

I got my car repainted and the body shop guy f##ked up my windshield trim and now it sticks up and looks terrible. I also have a crack in my windshield so this would kill two birds with one stone
