How do I fix a sandblasted windshield?
Hi All,
I bought a 2007 SSM in July and most of the car is great, especially after I wash it. However, one of the most annoying things is the sandblasted windshield. It looks horrible, especially when facing the sun.
I know it cannot be taken care of by a clay bar since there are small pits in the windshield and they are not on the "surface". I was wondering if there were some products you reccomend to fill in the pitting. I have heard some use products like Rain-X to do this, do y'all have any experience with this? I am OK with re applying after every wash if necessary.
Just to repeat: I do not want to replace my windshield, and no, my insurance will not cover the cost!!
Thanks for your input!

You have to replace your windshield. The insurance will cover it if you have the coverage.
LOL No but seriously. You can polish the glass, but the only way to repair chips is by filling them in. It also prevents spider webbing. However filling in all the small sandblasted chips is practically impossible. *Correct me if I am wrong*
If it's possible it would cost more than to replace it with out the insurance. In AZ I had the same issue, they replaced because they said they can't fix the windshield for me.

mine was like that too when I got my car (my02), the upright design of the s2k windshield makes them all prone to that. I asked my glass guy if the windshield could be repaired, but they told me that it could not be repaired. I thought maybe it could be polished or something but I've been told that it can't be done. There is no over the counter product that is going to help you either, no Rain-x or anything else. I ultimately replaced my windshield, glad I did as it is much nicer to look in and out of it now.

Another problem with trying to polish one's windshield when one has all those little pits--the polish gets stuck in the pits and will not be removed by glass cleaner. One only notices it when the sun hits the windshield in a certain way ... and then the windshield lights all up!

I have this exact same problem. I was going to post about it and then I stumbled on to this thread. So...ballpark, how much does it cost to replace the windshield?
For those of you that replaced your windshield, what did you pay?

I walked out for ~275. They have to replace the rubber trim on the outside. If they try to reuse it that is a big nono. It was about $60-75 at the Honda place
