How bad is rainwater?
I've owned my S2000 now for 7 months & until yesterday it never saw rain(garage kept). I had the day off from work yest. so i was like screw it i'm gonna take the S out. I'm a zaino user & my S has never seen any other product other than zaino, when taking it out yest. i had 1 coat of Z-5 & 1 coat of Z-2 on. I've heard stories that rainwater is bad for cars paint? How true is this? Is it really serious? All i can say is that driving a black car in the rain is not very good, my car is super dirty & i plan on washing it tom., all the ugly water spots all over the car looks hideous. So back to my initial question regarding this post. How bad is it for your cars paint driving in rain?

If I understand correctly rain water contains little if any minerals. So the water spotting after a rain is caused by dust, dirt, or pollen on finish and not the minerals left when water evaporates. So rain water drying on car is much safer than municipal (out the hose) water. However being from PA your rain may be acidic and this might over the long run dull a finish.

washing should remove most of the dirt - any contaminants in rain are going to be on the surface of the finish - and can be removed.
any acidic values in your rain . . . thats a different story - but one rain shouldnt bother it with a couple of zaino layers on it . . . hopefully you didnt let it sit in sun to dry out . . . thats the bad part for making it worse . . .

My car is garage kept so it dryed overnight in my dark garage, not by the sun. Washed it this afternoon with some good ole Z-7, dryed it off and waxed it and everything seems to be alright, doesn't look any damage at all was done by driving in the rain.
