Sounds like the perfect time for a rental. Maybe the your insurance agent could help. But then again my friends make fun of me for not driving my car in the ran.

rentals not a bad idea-
and there are some of us who actually do have a beater car for when it rains (and for when i need to haul stuff)!
since it never rains in so cal (yeah right!!), i used to be able to drive my car all the time... this year its been hiding under the cover for the past couple of weeks- cant wait for the rain to go away.

so just be sure you have a good coat (or several coats) of protection on the car- if you dont now, just put one on as soon as you can wash it after the rain.
He just got it like 2 weeks ago. I don't think it is ready to be waxed yet.

Is it true that they use different paint formulations depending on where the cars are being shipped in the US? I read that cars shipped to the northeast and mid-west have additives to combat acid rain - - - any truth to that?

If you don

OH HEAVEN FORBID! Getting an S2000 WET! Please, no, don't get it wet. Don't drive it in the rain. It might shrink. The paint will fall off. It will peel. It will get water spots on it that will never come out. I'd rather die from a thousand paper cuts to my tongue than drive my S in the rain and get it wet. I always stay within 2 miles from home just in case the rain clouds start to form.
In fact, I don't even drive it in the sun as the sun will cause far more damage to the paint than the rain. I've even considered hiring a bunch of those "umbrella" girls to run real fast beside me and hold those things so the sun don't touch my car - EVER!
