Default How bad is driving in the rain?

Hey guys, I usually keep my car garaged when it rains since it's new and the finish is perfect. I'd like to keep it like that, but unfortunately, my parents are in town and I have to lend them my daily beater to drive while they're here. Well, next week calls for rain and I haven't had my car out in the rain before so I'm worried that the finish will get spiderwebbed or something from the road grime. My last one was a daily driver for a while, but it came with minor swirl marks so I'm not sure how much the rain added.

How much damage to the paint (if any) does driving through rain do? Will I get swirl marks or fine lines from this? If so, what can I do to prevent it or fix it? Thanks.

agree- just wash it when you can- and give plenty of room to the car in front of you...
and if you havent driven it in the rain before, be careful- that rear end will be loose if you arent careful!

Thanks for the input. Definitely been in the rain with an S before. The RE050's are supprisingly good in standing watter. No mountain roads on the way to work thankfully

a comment that i should have added before-

one of the purposes of wax is to protect paint from elements, including rain.
so just be sure you have a good coat (or several coats) of protection on the car- if you dont now, just put one on as soon as you can wash it after the rain.

In my experience driving in the rain causes the car to get very wet...especially on the outside and if you drive with the top down in the rain, the interior will get wet.

Hey Cyclon36, whatever you do don't drive your S2 in the rain. The paint will run, you will become incontinent, and your children will develop bad complections (unless they are already teenagers).
Save it for one or two drives a year in the hottest driest weather only!
