Not car related but do you think i could use a claybar on my snowboard to make it slick as opposed to snowboard wax which I don't have?

You could use a claybar to try to remove contaminants from the snowboard base but it's probably not necessary. Waxing a snowboard is different from waxing the paint on a car. Wax is supposed to permeate into the snowboard base and it helps melt the snow into a thin layer of water which enables the board to glide faster. In short, claybarring your snowboard is no substitued for properly waxing it.

snowboard wax has to be melted on and the base absorbs some of it. then you scrape the excess off.
I wouldn't use car wax if I were you...
You could use claybar and wax on the top of it though!

I tried lazily using car wax on my skis back in my early "ski ricer" days, and it does NOT work. It actually made the skis glide less, and seemingly increased the friction coefficient.

Well i got bored last night so i tried claybar and wax, we'll see how it works on friday, it feels about the same maybe a little smoother but it is deffenately more shiny now
if it doens't work oh well it can always be grinded off when i get it waxed for real.
