Helping Mom and Dad
I live across the country from my parents and try to visit back a minimum of once a year. Prior to my visit a month ago my dad asked if I could help him clean my mom's car. I know normally dad's teach their sons how to cleand cars, not the other way arround.
It does sicken me to tell that it is a 2003, and has not been waxed since they got it. I do not count the spray wax at the drive up car wash. It was in very poor shape with several small scratches all over and somewhat dull, neglected finish.
I am not a big fan of the quarter spray car washes, but due to the town they live in not allowing driveway washing, that is what we had to use. I was not overly concerned about scratches, there were so many alread.
After washing, we utilized Duragloss surface cleaner on an orbital buffer. This did a good job of removing many of harsh scratches, etc and gave a nice surface to begin with.
Knowing that my parents would not keep up the finish as I would. I choose to utilize Liquid Glass. This has become my favorite due to easy application, removal, stackable and long lasting deep shine. at about $21.00 for a 16oz bottle, it is a very good deal as well.
I worked with my dad to apply 4 layers of Liquid Glass. After he saw the results, he asked if I would help him to do the same thing to his 2002 Honda Accord Coupe. We followed the same process for his car.
A couple of days later we were at the golf course and a couple of his golf buddies was asking me what I used on his car. I told them about Liquid Glass. The next day one called the house to tell me that the 2 stores in the area that sold it were sold out.
This is a picture of mom's car after we finished. I did not take any pics of my dads. but it is gold again and not a dusty dull yellowish color. (btw you can see the Accord in the back ground)
So when people ask what I did for my vacation I get to tell them I cleaned cars all week.

Twice a year - once on Mother's Day, once on her birthday - I detail both of my Mom's cars. Even more satisfying than detailing one of my own.
Good on ya man! Helping the parents FTW.

nice work and always feels good to not only help someone else, but to help someone that really does appreciate what you've done.
(i hate the "uh...i guess it looks better" responses )

So I took a big cup of water a poured it on the hood and her response to that was "wow, I didn't know water would do that on a car"

A job well done! He might've made his dad's friends into wackos too!
