Help - Z18 Clay Bar and viable substitute needed!!!
Ok I went to my zaino distributor today and they are out of z-18. Expecting to get it in within 1.5 weeks, however I was all set to zaino this weekend. Can anyone in the austin area offer any help? Maybe someone can sell me a Z-18 at retail price?

Why not substitute another brand of Clay? I hear Mothers and Meguires make a good clay, if not better than Z18. I wasn't too impressed with the Z18 myself. Too hard for my liking. I prefer a nice pliable clay that is easier to fold. The Z18 is a pain and I will not buy more. I believe all clays will pretty much work the same since they aren't abrasive and are just meant to "suck up" (for lack of a better term) the contaminants on the paint.

if stuck - feel good about clay magic or mothers . . .
the meguiars one gets nothing but hate in most user groups . . .
oh, and the shortage - you can thank the clay magic people and their lawsuit . . .

damn i couldn't find any clay at the local autoparts place I did find two types of clay 3M and megs at a local autobody supply shop - check your phone book unlike sireousrex, i really liked Z-clay I hated MEG's medium clay as it just didn't seem to pull the stuff out of the paint.. Good luck

Thanks guys - I'll try and get some at autozone after work today. Another clay related question:
How much pressure should be applied when claying? Is it a scrubbing type action, or just a drag it over the paint type action?
Thanks again in advance - want to do this perfectly!

Nice thing about the clay, it won't let you press too hard cuz it just oozes out from between your hand and the paint. Go back-and-forth (not in circles) with gentle pressure and you'll do fine. You'll get the feel for it. Don't forget to lubricate!
