HELP NEEDED, please!
Hi guys,
I know it was a discussion about bird shit in wax/detailing section but I still need help.
I just got 97 m3 (to save milage on my S2k, ha-ha), and the previous owner did not take good care of the paint. There are lots of bug/bird acid spots that have burned through the paint (deeper then just clearcoat). Pictures show some of them.
How make those spots look better (without repainting the car)?
Your suggestions are greatly appreciated.

This really belongs in the wash/wax forum, and the pictures aren't working so it's hard to make a judgement.
Typically if it's through the clearcoat, you cant fix them, but might be able to reduce it by using a heavy polish and polisher.
You could try to do it by hand but it'd take a lot of scrubbing.
Try and fix the pictures so we can see how bad it is.

got better pics?
agree that if you have etching we cant repair it, but we might be able to help. sometimes you can remove the edges of the etch with polish to make it a bit better. reclearing might be the only cure, but we need pics to get an idea about this.
let me see if i can fix your pics-

couldnt really edit your pics, but was able to see them anyway.
also could not blow them up so i can only guess at what i see...
my best guess is that what i am looking at are more stains than etches. if i am right, that is good news, because bug splat stains can be made better and sometimes can be removed completely. this will require polishing.
you say that they are deeper than clearcoat- can you "catch an edge" with your fingernail? if so, my guess above is all wet... and polish is still the solution, but it will not fix the problem (it might help it).
if you can not catch an edge, then my idea of bug splat is more likely to be correct.
so next step is to find out whether you can catch an edge or not...
have you polished before? this will require more than a light polish- at least a medium cut.
