Default HELP! Melted Plastic on Exhaust...

A couple weeks ago I had my car on the dyno, and my Invidia exhaust burned the black plastic rear diffuser ever so slightly. I neglected to clean the area immediately afterwards (too hot!!). Now, some of the black melted plastic from the diffuser has hardened on the top part of my exhaust tip.

Question is: What's the best way to get this stuff off w/out scratching or otherwise damaging the exhaust? Adhesive remover? Soap & water? Goo gone?? Pls help!!

The exhaust is stainless steel btw...

the first step i remember to be to reheat the exhaust... remove as much as possible with old rags, and try not to drag it far- try to bunch it and pick it up... be sure to protect your hands- gloves or lots of caution.
i think my next step would be research, since i dont remember which product- i would probably go to the goo gone site since they have lots of products, and prob have one that would work.

maybe the auto formula- the one we usually use for tough body stains.

Thx guys. I'll look into both suggestions, and let you know what works.

bigurp-
pretty sure its all one suggestion- just two steps.
first remove as much as possible with the pipes hot.
then cool down and do the polish step

simon- is that what you intended too?
