Default Hand protection while detailing?

Does anyone use hand protection like gloves when they're detailing? All the chemicals we use can't be good for our hands.

I did a mini-detail this weekend and my hands look horrible today. Dry. Kinda cracked. Irritated.

great question...

i do use rubber gloves- but not often enough!!
i use them for applying tire stuff and also when i am machine waxing- drop the wax outta the container into my glove covered hand and wipe it on the pad.
sometimes also use them for underhood detailing.

I usually just use non-latex (Im allergic to latex) rubber gloves. You can buy a box of 100 for 10.00 or so and they usually last fairly long. I always get the purple ones since they seem to stay together longer, although Im sure thats all in my head.

Only use gloves when I clean the engine (harsh chemicals), otherwise all natural for me

Griot's sells some vinyl gloves with aloe inside. Sounds like they'd be much more comfortable than the typical powder filled ones. I think I can find them locally, which would be good given their shipping rates...
