ouch- sorry to hear this...
first reported fire in the w&w!!

replacement is the best choice-
have never tried paint on that part of the car, but what the heck- maybe try a flat black?
gotta really mask the heck outta the car- i would use old sheets, lotsa tape and whatever it takes to mask everything other than what you are gonna paint-

other choice is to remove the insulation and paint it outta the car- that stuff is a pia to deal with

take lotsa pics of your process- and post em up-

how is the engine bay where the fire was? i dont see any damage there (good news)

Good idea...must be a someone with a liner kicking around.

There is a guy in NY Metro (S~Factor; https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.ph...c=525921&st=0) who does alot of custom hood vents. Maybe he has a liner. If you going to the nor'easter, perhaps someone can bring one to you and save on shipping.

If that isn't an option, I agree with Wanabe...paint flat-black.

Thank,s Guys.
Not much damage;sender unit for the oil press.gauge, craked, and hot oil ignited on the header.

Burnt,block heater wire,sender ground wire,fuse box bracket,and hood liner.

Lucky,I stopped the engine right away, and got some water, from a close by,utility store.
Even,if it looks SISSY,from now on,I will not drive,without this;a Fire extinguisher...

On the subject of extinguishers, I recommend the Halon extinguisher over any dry chemical one, the Halon leaves no mess to clean up.

The hood insulation would probably take one or two coats of upholstry or carpet dye to cover the damage.

Emil, a major auto supply should have it, or a carpet retailer. The site below has leather and carpet dye, and even has Honda color charts. Good luck with returning your S to it's pristine self.
