Default Gum?

I have a gum like residue that got stringed onto the car....probably from another vehicle running it over? Nothing crazy....but definetly annoying.

Just wondering what you guys might suggest to get it off the paint...

I already tried to lightly buff it with a rag, but with no luck. Figured it might be time for a clay bar or other sort of detail?

I am a detail noob

i would try the same thing i just told the guy with paint on his bumper to try. its 3m adhesive remover its sold at any store that sells 3m paint. car quest is where i get mine dont know if you have them where your from. but it works great at taking off tar. or anything sticky. it was made to remove 3m double sided tape that goes on molding so its safe for the paint. just remember to wash and wax good after your done because it also removes that.

I will definetly try that....I am sure they have that somewhere in stock.

I just wanted to make sure I tried something that was relatively safe for the paint.

Thank you for the advice.

yeah let me know if it works for you i know on my old lexus i used it all the time to take off tar from teh back bumper that loved to collect it. you spray it on (its aerosol) and it makes the tar just run off in streaks. it even removes tar you didnt even know was there. really good stuff and never had a problem with it effecting the paint but as i said just make sure to wash good and wax

+1

I've used that stuff removing some nasty residue of crappy double sided tape. Fairly inexpensive and very handy to have.

But I'm curious as to what the substance really is ...

Ill try to get some pics up soon.....I guess I have been more worried about cleaning it than really looking at it.

Ill try to get the pics when I buy the 3m stuff and try to do a "before and after"...

Doesn't gum have carnauba in it? That would be a indirect way of waxing your car.
