Default Griot's Garage Random Orbital

I see lots of people using the Porter Cable brand of random orbital but have seen noone using this one. Any reason not to? I'm going to be buying an orbital in a kit form with lots of products and am trying to decide where to get it from.

Go with what's proven. Get the Flex, PC 7424, or the Ultimate Detailing Machine (UDM) kit. The griot's from what I understand is just a rebadged unit of one of the aforementioned machines. Save yourself some coin, support a forum sponsor, and get something that won't make you pay more for a name.

I believe so. If not, I know he has some good deals on PC kits.

I have everything, I mean everything Griot. I have that 6" and the 3" random orbital. I love the 6." The 3" is good for the mirrors, front bumper and windshield frame. The other guy is probably right. Griot more times than not will go out and find the best stuff and just rebadge it. I just buying all my stuff from Griot's Garage because the service is great and they will take anything back if you don't like it.

Is the backing plate on the Griot's one removable? That's the one thing that kept me from considering it - I just didn't know.

One of these days, I'll try some of their stuff. I've got their ultimate bucket, and man, that thing is fantastic.

I have some of their stuff as well and they are a local company. Supporting board sponsors is good and supporting local business is good as well.

Autopia sells the Ultimate Detailing Machine.

But isn't it just a rebadged PC 7424?

The Ultimate Detailing Machine has a slightly more powerful motor when compared to the Porter Cable. I myself have both the PC 7424 and the Flex, and I like the Flex much better. The next step for me is a rotary...

What about the Meguiar's G110? Not as popular as the PC or Flex but I think provides good value for the person that doesn't need a professional buffer/polisher. Plus it's around $150 and has gotten good reviews especially when compared against the UDM.
