Default Got a Dilema-

Ok so I'm feeling like waxing my car again with zaino, but here is the problem. I did not start with Z5 last time I did it, so I'm wondering if I need to/is it suggested that I wipe off my entire old coats, and start fresh all over again?

Surely wouldn't need to claybar because I did that about a month ago when I first put the Zaino on.

Will it be better to do Z5 on a clean car rather than shove some on ontop of what I already have (2 layers of Z2).

Will it be worth it?

Ok... deep down inside I know it would be worth it, but I'm being lazy so just asking anyways (I do have swirl marks from stupid dealer's "detail")

Or perhaps someone has a better solution. wannabe? xviper?

No you do not need to remove the Z2. Wash the car with Zaino car wash and then put which ever wax you want on. Z5 will be fine over the Z2. After however many coats you want to do with the Z5 then go to the Z2. Remember you can only do 3 coats with ZFX activated poilish in a 24 hour period. When I did mine I put 3 coats of Z5 and then a week later 2 coats of the Z2.

You are making me think about doing mine again. I would probably put a coat of Z5 on and then two coats of Z2.

superdyu-
i think it depends on how bad your swirls are.... guessing that your car is fairly new. if so, i would not do a swirl removal- but would just go with a swirl cover (such as z5).
o.k. to apply the z5 over z2 (i have done this many times and it works just fine). be aware that since z5 is a swirl cover, the swirls will be noticeable again in the near future. then you just z5 again. (and i agree with you that you do not need to clay, since you just did this... however, you should check the finish periodically- i use the back of my fingers to feel my paint- to see if it is contaminated and needs claying).
when you have enough swirls to decide to remove them, you will get to do what i did this past saturday- a 5 hour process...
wash, clay, swirl remove, zaino- at least two coats of z2 (and i did z1 first)...

above posts are correct.. no need to fuss over z2 and z5.. once layered on a finish, they are quite similar in substance, yet one does slightly different job.. so not to worry.

you want to try the new z2 formulation, as it fills in swirls pretty much like z5 does.. but requires more elbow grease to come off

well... the swirls are there, just not visible by a camera (so cant really show pics). I think I have the new Z2 unless its just come out in the past month or so.

I think I will wash with normal shampoo (Meguires) and see how the car looks then and decide from there.
