Default good way to get scratches out

i have some hairline scratches from the previous owner who used a detailer that completely sucked. he left buff marks all over the car.

Instead of me paying $300 to do it again and risking the chance of it happening again, i'm going to do it myself.

but trying to find some good product that will actually work.

I've tried the maguire hairline scratch remover and it really didn't work that well.

what do you guys use?

Sounds like they used a polisher with a fixed spindle (non-orbiting). I suggest you buy a porter-cable polisher. They do not damage paint, and it would allow you to remove the paint burns they put in.

I have one and it is a great tool for detailing, from heavy repair to final detailing.

I agree. I like most Meguir's product, but all this stuff does is dull your clear coat.

I believe, depending on how deep the scratches are, you need to apply Scratch X multiple times in order for it to work properly.
