Default Glue left from tape weights

I have a set of wheels that have been tape weighted. When I re-balance them the old weight glue/paper backing is left on the wheel. Is there a way to get the leftover stuff off of the wheel without damaging it? What is a good product? Or am I going to be stuck scraping it all off with my finger nails?

Thanks!

WD-40 usually loosens the glue. After I got the glue off, I cleaned and polished the wheels with Zaino Z2 and now I can rub over the adhesive with my fingers and it rolls up into a ball.
