Default Getting a new S, need to protect her....

So I'm getting a 2004 in a few weeks (should be on the boat now). When it gets here I want to do my best to protect all the areas while they are still clean (engine bay etc, to the exterior).

My question is, whats a good protective wax to accomplish this? I've heard a lot about P21S. Or would a simple Meguires work? My emphasis is on protection, then shine....

Thoughts?

First of all, what are you trying to protect it from, ie. tree sap, bird droppings, acid rain, etc?

For incredible protection with duration, nothing beats Zaino.

how about combining the above ideas-
my fav (on my car) is zaino topped with p21s.

btw, be sure to tell the dealer not to detail the car when it comes in...
if they do, guaranteed swirls.
you will do a much better job at the first detail than they ever could.
just take your time- and be prepared for a car that looks a bit different!

The most important thing is pure cotton towels or microfiber. I'm a zaino fan, but the other products work well too. Just don't scratch it with bad towels.

Plan to do clay bar treatment when you get the car. That'll prep the surface perfectly for whatever you decide to use.

Post some pix when it gets here Jonesy!

Thanks for the quick feedback!

I've heard quite a bit about zanio, but never tried it out. So I'm rather cautious about using a "non-wax" wax, especially with this being brand new (also my first new car ever).

My overall goal is to protect the engine bay and lower panels from everyday dirt/grime etc while the upper panels are more for shine/UV. ALso, I want to do my best to protect the front end from small rocks etc. Eventually I want to put a clear bra on, but that has to wait a little.

If you have any other thoughts, please let me me know!! Thanks again for the help, and I'll be sure to post pictures as soon as she's here....

Noooooooo please do not wait!!!! Get that damn clear bra right after you pick it up from the dealer. Paint chips up very easy on this car. Good luck.

If you haven't done so already, shell out the money for a clear bra.

you are probably going to have to do search on this as its quite a subjective topic.

IMO, it matters what kind of wash/waxing you plan on doing ? Swirl mark removing, ? compounding ? If so, then I recommend a dual action orbital polisher.

I have seen several references to a clear bra. Is this the clear film similar to window tint film that people put on the front of the car? If so, where can you get this in Ohio?
