I think that would depend upon what type of pad is used. I've used a 4" spot pad, and with a considerable amount downforce, I could not stop the pad from spinning. Even with the 5.5" pads, it still spins a little bit.

Orbitals don't oscillate side to side. Technically this machine is both a rotary and an RO or neither depending on how you look at it.

I already have a Flex but my car doesn't need any polishing right now except for one small spot on the corner of the bumper. Plus, we just got hit with 3 snow storms in 7 days. So, it's not exactly car cleaning conditions out.
Probably late February/early March I'll polish out my fiance's black Volvo with it. I don't want to do it during the winter as the car is almost never washed.
