Uhh, my PC orbits from side to side
No it doesn't. It actually moves around in a circle the center of which is the center of the machine's head. It kind of orbits around this point which is where the name comes from. It does not move side to side. It's moving so fast though that you really can't see where the pad is going. It just looks like it's jiggling a little.

I think that would depend upon what type of pad is used. I've used a 4" spot pad, and with a considerable amount downforce, I could not stop the pad from spinning. Even with the 5.5" pads, it still spins a little bit.
Again, the pad moves VERY fast which can fool the eye. The only way to see if the pad is really spinning is to put a mark on the back of the pad that your eye can track. Even with a smaller pad any significant downward pressure will stop the pad from spinning.

Orbitals don't oscillate side to side. Technically this machine is both a rotary and an RO or neither depending on how you look at it.
I wouldn't necessarily say it's both. The Flex unlike most other polishers that make the same claim is a true dual action polisher. The pad spins and orbits both motions are motivated by the motor. Unlike the PC which orbits because the motor causes it to and sometimes the pad spins as a by product.

That's why i said it depends on how you look at it

It could be an Ro with forced rotation, could be a rotary with forced orbit or you could just call it a completely different idea and order one. I'm ordering one either now or in Jan.
6 of one half a dozen of another eh?

I already have a Flex but my car doesn't need any polishing right now except for one small spot on the corner of the bumper. Plus, we just got hit with 3 snow storms in 7 days. So, it's not exactly car cleaning conditions out.

Probably late February/early March I'll polish out my fiance's black Volvo with it. I don't want to do it during the winter as the car is almost never washed.
