Default first wash / wax

Dad is picking up a new Avalon tomorrow - i asked the the dealer leave on the film so that they don't swirl his new car

game plan next week is to clay, and then klass AIO & Klasse SG

are there any tricks to removing the protective film?

the film usually just peels off easily...
sometimes some of the plastic gets stuck in cracks- just take your time and you will be fine.
you might not need to clay- be sure to check it first. you will need to clay if it was brought by rail.

tell your father that i said he is a very lucky guy to have a son like you!!!

If he fed you for a few years, go the extra step and do the clay bar. Makes the paint glass smooth.

Picked up 05 sebring silver S2K Monday evening. Car was still wrapped up when first seen...assume a fairly recent build date. How soon is it safe to polish/wax? I use Zymol.

Also, anyone know where I can find a windshield shade small enough to fit?

Thanks!

No idea about a windshield shade. However, you want to get some wax on that car ASAP. No need to wait at all. The only time you need to wait is if you have body work done and the paint is not baked.

f1_fanz, I just bought a workable sunscreen at Advanced Auto Parts for my '05. WalMart probably carries it, also. I don't know the brand, but it's one of the collapsible silver colored shades with the two circular sections formed by small wires. It folds into a very small, round form for storage (I put it behind the top of the passenger's seat) and expands to fit quite well when opened........ I think it's a medium size - look on the back of the package - it'll tell you which size is correct for the S2K.

That's what I had in my Cadillac CTS, it was great! Unfortunately it's WAY too big for the little S2000 windshield, hopefully I can find one that will fit. Thanks for the recommendation.

Cheers,
Diane
