First Experience with Raggtop
#22
Hey Guys. Some one PMd me with a question about Raggtop and application process.
From experience I found the following method to work best for me...
Using Microfiber towel is a pain in the ass. I applied too much and it was uneven. First time it rained it did bead but there was so much that it ended up being all over windshield and paint. Had to use Cleaner Wax to get windows and paint to bead/shine again.
The best method I found that works for me is following....
I clean the top with very soft brush & cleaner, if no brush available just rub the cleaner in with moist microfiber towel and wipe off with another wet microfiber.
Better yet just wash your car after working the cleaner in and then shampoo the top with same soap as you are using on the vehicle. Tends to work better because that almost guaranties that the top wont have any cleaner residue left.
Once top is dry apply the Protectant using any foam applicator pad. I do suggest using one of those cheap sponges from Autozone. The foam is a bit more dense and I think it does a better job then the applicator pads. I am against using Microfiber towel to apply protectant because it doesnt doesn't seem to do as good and even of a job. *I used cheap Autozone sponge and cut it up in to pieces* Prior to that I used applicator pad for waxing and they tend to be too soft and tear apart and that is the reason why I did the Autozone sponge trick.
Once the top is dark and covered in Raggtop protectant grab a clean & dry microfiber and buff out the top to get rid of any access protectant that is left otherwise it will make its way down your windows and paint after wash or rain and the windshield wiper will chatter and paint will be dull looking and you will need to use Cleaner or Polish to get it back to normal.
When applying product face away from car, spray applicator pad with Protectant then apply. Make sure that the wind is not blowing towards the car. By spraying the on the top directly or next to the car the mist from Protect will leave sticky residue on paint and glass.
1) Work cleaner in with brush or old microfiber....
2) Wash the car to get rid of the cleaner
3) Once top dry apply protectant with any foam applicator pad or old foam Sponge by spraying on applicator first and not directly the top.
4) !! Buff off access protectant

just got my RAGGTOP in today from MODIFRY. kind of a nice comparison in the pics. one side with raggtop applied the other not applied.
that's a dirty windshield NOT overspray (so nobody panic)...
we'll just have to see how raggtop holds up after some time has passed and after summer rolls around...
