Try Meguier's new NXT micro-abrasion metal polish, its supposed to be really good stuff.

These readily available stuff works just fine for me:
EZ-Off Oven Cleaner, finish it off with Mother's Aluminum Polish or toothpaste (that's right!). Just make sure to rub off the aluminum polish or toothpaste after.

I've been using it on my Fujitsubo exhaust for a year and it's fine. Just don't let it sit, a quick spray and rinse off with water. Use the polish to give it a shiny look and some protection.

i use a stainless cleaner called thor for spots like those (dont tell my wife, cause i get it from her kitchen cleaning products stash!!)

other great products would be luster lace, nevr dull, and wenol.
