No, i dont think so. Its the main part of the engine.... The part that has the DOHC VTEC written on it. The paint on one side of this is flaking away... I wil try and get a photo of it and upload it but it will probably be Saturday before i can. Is this a bad sign? I have only had the car about two months and it was like this when i bought it.

Oh Sorry... I'm not too familiar with the make up of an engine... But doing my best to read up on everything on this forum!! So does this mean its a bad sign or can it just be painted like the brake calippers??

I would either try to buy a used one (there are always some in the FS section) or you can have it powder coated.

Ok thanks a lot. Does it generally happen with valve covers over time (bearing in mind mine is an 01 model) or is it a sign of overheating or something sinister like that?
I'll look up the prices of powder coating the valve cover... knowing Ireland it'l lcost a fortune!!!

I can't say that I've seen it happen to an S2000 before, but yeah, having the paint come off a valve cover isn't exactly uncommon. I agree with the others - see if you can score a used one.
