Good, now you can stop buying gunk's engine brite because they are ridiculously expensive. Try Simple Green or Purple Power. Kragen sell them for about $5 a gallon and I've washed 7 engines with 32oz. left.

I've cleaned probably a couple hundred engine bays with degreaser and a high pressure hose when I detailer for a shop. Never had any issues. Always left the car running and blocked off any intake holes, or if there was a exposed filter Id cover it and leave the engine off. Most important part is always keep the water hose moving so your not soaking one area.
I'll post pictures once i can get the girlfriends digi camera...haven't got my own sorry. I didn't get any before pics, but i don't mind taking some aftershots. One thing I didn't get perfectly clean was the writing on the spark plug covers where it says "DOHC VTEC," it still has a lil grime on. If i take a metal polish to it, will that get it? Like I said in my original post, the guy who had the car before me neglected the car, and i'm having to go through and get it back into top shape. I'll post pics soon though, promise.
interesting, i'm in the process of cleaning up my S that i picked up a week back, and i was hesitant to spray down the bay like that. Using the CD2 degreaser, is there any elbow grease involved in the process also, or is it a spray, sit, and spray off deal?
No elbow grease at all, unless it is SUPER dirty. I just bought mine with 84k miles and it looked like the engine had never been cleaned. I didn't need to do ANY scrubbing. Just spray on, sit about 10-15, then rinse off the degreaser. You go from dusty nasty looking , to polished shiny looking
I usually give it a little agitation. But when it is relatively clean in the first place it isn't that hard. When I do one that hasn't been cleaned...ever...then I'll give it some agitation or even a second wash before putting on the engine dressing.
Is it possible to paint the red part of the engine? The red paint on one side of the engine block is flaking away... Is this a common fault or should i be worried??!! Thanks.
