The end of my Sonus DAS FlexPlate
My Sonus 6" FlexPlate was unfortunate enough to fall apart today... The yellow urethane part pretty much tore itself apart from the metal, rendering my SFX pads useless. I guess the first sign that something was going out was when I was polishing with SFX-1 and the yellow SFX foam pad. On speed 6 the PC vibrated more than usual and made my hands red and sore. Out of nowhere the foam pad just completely detached from the velcro and went flying (PC was set at 6). I thought nothing of it and just proceeded on to the SFX-2 and white pad. Again while in the middle of this, I noticed bits of yellow pieces coming out. I thought where is this yellow stuff coming from? It can't be from the pad because it's white. Then it was too late. The urethane and metal on the FlexPlate separated into two.
How can something like this happen? Was I using too much pressure? Well at least this'll give me reason to buy some new pads now, like the Edge2000 set.

I the Edge 2000 pad system. All the foam for all the foam pads is sourced from only a few companies. So, regardless of brand the actual foam itself is the same. What really seperates one foam pad from another are unique features. The Edge 2K system has a quick disconnect system which replaces the traditional velcro attachment system and the Edge 2K pads are double sided. This combination of features brings many, many benefits. Even better than that when you have a problem you deal directly with Aaron the President of the company. I've never heard of him being anything but extremely courteous and helpful. Hands down EdgePads has some of the best customer service in the industry. I'll personally NEVER buy velcro pads again. Especially since Edge is coming out with 4" pads in a couple of months.
On a side note, this weekend at my detailing class we had 5 PCs and 4 pad sets. Of the 4 pad sets 3 of them were Edge 2000. There were some people had never used a PC at all before and some had just never used Edge 2000 pads before. All agreed that Edge 2000 pads were superior simply based on the fact that the machine vibrated less with them.

Doh... you mean they might be coming up with a polishing pal ala edge2000 style? I just picked up the velco set.
It really gave Aaron a big kick in the pants to release 4" pads when it was realized that the PC adapter fits the Cyclo. The Cyclo uses only 4" pads and there are a lot of Cyclo users out there who are very unhappy with the current selection of 4" pads.
