Default Easiest way to remove "dead" wax/sealant

Is there a way or a product that will remove old wax and sealant from the paint without using Dawn?

I know I could use a super-fine polish, but I dont want to polish the car every time I seal and wax it. I also know I could use a medium to heavy clay, but that could cause marring, but would lead up to using the PC anyways. Also, most fine clays wont remove the wax and sealant anyways, and the car doesnt need to be clayed everytime I wash it.

Is there a car soap that would do this? I am not to keen on using Dawn.

roger- i dont like dawn either... my car has seen dawn once and will never see it again.
why do you want to remove the protection?
i keep on layering until i need to remove swirls, then i polish and start over with the protection.
in fact, my protection was so old recently that the wax was starting to "haze"- i know that only wackos would be able to see the haze that i saw, but i saw it.
(pretty sure it was the wax and not the synthetic that was hazing).
so i used a paint cleaner (mild swirl remover)- made the paint look like new again and had to start over with the synthetics/wax (zaino with p21s and lusso oro over the zaino).
so in short, my answer is why worry about it. no dawn needed until you need to polish and that will replace dawn any day!

You guys have to get over the fear of dishwashing liquid. I wouldn't use it three times a week but a few times a year isn't going to hurt anything. The reason i don't use it anymore is that it does not strip the synthetics and it does a poor job of stripping some of the caranubas. Use a chemical paint cleaner, most of them do NOT contain abrasives.

I agree w Ubetit. Just dont make it your usual wash.
I use TAW as a prewash to remove all contaminants and its stronger than Dawn

This stuff works pretty well:

http://www.topoftheline.com/silicone-wax-remover.html

Also, there's a product out there called PrepSol which is designed to do the same thing. Walmart sells an identical product under the name PrepAll

What dilution ratio do you use with the HT-23?

Pre-Soak it in an APC before your wash. Two popular choices include:

P21S TAW
Grime Reaper (need dilution)

A strong car shampoo would be CG Citrus Wash Clear which will also help in stripping your vehicle.

NXT is another option but that is getting a bit close to dawn. A good signal of a harsh soap is...stick your hand in...if your hand comes out dry and cracking...then hahahahaha

hahahaha i thought you were going to say something about smelling it

yeah, i'd go with CG CWG or P21S. If you do choose to use Grime Reaper, I wouldn't leave it on the paint very long
