Im talking about paint, Im talking about the windshield tape on my windshield frame which is painted.

With that being said, would a razor blade be safe on it or not?

Sorry, I thought you were trying to get some tape adhesive off your windshield. I would not use the razor balde on the trim tape. I have wiped mine with some Ford clearcoat polish. That did not seem to hurt it. The clearcoat polish contains petroleum distilates and alcohol and kaolin for an abrasive. You might try a clearcoat polish or bug and tar remover if the WD-40 or lighter fluid doesn't cut it. Try a very small place that is not real obvious first and see how the trim reacts.

This is one case were you need to be very specific because you almost got some bad advice. Windshield is very different than windshield frame.

Nothing is going to be easy. Keep wetting the adhesive with goo gone and it will eventually come of with some elbow grease. At that point you will probably have put a bunch of scratches in it.

3M wax and adhesive remover. local walmarts have it
I would go with that as well I use what the call Automotive Adhesive Remover which works great on everything. But you have to wax the area after because it removes whatever protection as in wax or whatever else you would use.

We're talking about glass here, not paint.
not to try and start a debate but paper towels can still scratch tent. MF towels are the best all around.

Jert, im with Ubetit and use goo gone. try to apply it to a microfiber towel and see if you can cut down on the scratchs. however, as im sure you know MF is very absorbant so you'll need to use a good bit. then deffinatly wash and wax that area.
