FWIW, it cost me right around $650 to get my front bumper replaced and painted. This included shaving the front license plate holes.

Thanks sharkbite, I appreciate the advice. I will try your method on a few chips first to see how it looks. If it works out ok, I'll make a few day project out of it!!

no problem, make sure the chip is clean before u start. remove any rust that maybe in there, the cleaner the spot, the better the paint will bond to it.

What about that thread where the guy fill in the rock chips with touch up paint and let it dry. It looked horrible! But then he water sanded the spots with 1500 to 2000 gritt and buffed it out with compound and polish. The hood looked brand new and you couldnt tell where the touch up paint was or wasnt. On black that should work well I think..... ??? no??

Alright, here we go....

IIRC, no-one liked the Dr. Color Chip... They said it was difficult to apply, etc.

I've done this to my car in a couple spots, with amazing results. Basically as described before, you apply touch up paint, blob it up, (you can clay it, to try to get it nearly the same height as the original paint, but I didn't bother) and you let it dry for a month or two... it's slightly ugly, but it will be good in the end. I ended up wet sanding it, then using my UDM to get the paint back to the same color, and you can't even tell... make sure you prep the surface correctly before using the touch up paint, use some denatured alcohol to clean it well...

(doesn't see a point to subscribing but whatever)....

Like I said, especially with Berlina, Just blob it(edit: referring to touch up paint. its like $25ish for a bottle, don't use the applicator though, get a fine paint brush, or even tooth picks, depending on the size of the chips), wet sand it about a month + later, after its set, and polish, and it will be un-noticeable....

Also, it depends on how deep the chips are... I had some nasty looking scratches in my trunk lid (Looked like someone drug their keys across it), and I ended up buffing them out with my UDM. You live in California, and there are plenty of people that would be willing to help you, just ask around on the forums... I heard wanabe will do it for a... (moves his hand back and forth.... like hes "cleaning a fluorescent light bulb").... If you get the point...

LoL, Love you Wanabe.
