Do your rotors rust when you wash?
The stock rotors seem to rust very quickly, even before I'm able to dry the car. Am I doing something wrong? How can this be avoided?

No/ cannot be avioded unless you cover the rotors before you wash or if you buy cadium plated rotors(even then the rotor faces will still rust just not the non wearing components of the rotor)

That would be an improvement over stock since the rust on the wearing surfaces is removed when you drive. But it sucks that you can still see rust around the edges and close to the center of the wheel. Are the cadium (cadmium?) rotors expensive and do they offer any performance improvement?

Since the rotors are exposed, I would hope that they would be protected in some way from rust. I've noticed the same rusting. Is the rusting going to be a problem at some point or is this just considered "normal"?

I have noticed surface rust on the rotors of a variety of cars I have owned...it is normal. I drive the car after I wash it so that parts not reachable by towel or chamois "air dry". This, and the first brake application, takes care of the rust you see on the rotors. I think because of the open architecture of our wheel design which is so popular lately the "problem" is much more noticeable.
