Having lived in the Deep South all of my life I've not had to deal too much with that white stuff you guys are talking about, and what in the world is French Fry seasoning doing on y'all's roads but...
I detailed cars year round (yes it does get cold enough to be uncomfortable down here) and continue to wash our cars each weekend through the winter now. Here's a few things I've picked up over the years when garage access isn't a possiblity:
Get a bucket of warm to hot water to use for your soap suds, you can either get this out of the kitchen sink or the pressure relief valve of the water heater usually sitting in your garage (careful, it's hot for the first little bit) The key is to keep your hands as warm as possible, the rest of you will be fine from activity.
After washing your car as normal w/ the warm water rinse out your bucket well, then fill it back up with clean hot water, as you dry using your absorber or Big Blue towel, after filling each up w/ now VERY cold water from the cold metal of your car dunk it in the hot water bucket, when you wring it out it will once again be tolerable.
