Is the dashboard leather
Guys,
I plan on givng the S2000 a good coat of leather treatment tomorrow.
Is the dash leather? I plan on using Meguiars Gold Class (cleaner/conditioner) throughout the interior. I have used Lexol before on other cars, but figure I try something new.
Also, for the door panel, is the top portion leather too? Its an '07 if matters since some years might be different.
TIA,
tony

The real leather on these cars includes:
- Perforated section of the door panels
- Perforated elbow rest on the center console
- Shift boot
- Seating surfaces
- Ring around the shift knob
- Steering wheel rim
I have read occasionally that, on the seats, the only actual leather bit is the very centers of them - as in, within the confines of the bolsters, the perforated parts. I'm not completely sure if the bolsters are leather or vinyl - but, they sure do wear like leather. So my conclusion is that the entire "forward facing" part of the seat - the bits you actually sit in - are real leather.
I would not use vinyl products on leather, or on parts you merely suspect may be leather.

Here's a pretty good article on the Einszett USA website about automotive leather:

thespeedracer- do you mean cleaner instead of clear?
on leather, those are my first choices too...
lexol is second choice and i have a jar of something that is my third choice.
on vinyl (like the dashboard), i like vinylex or 303. raggtopp for vinyl is an occasional go to in my list.
on rubber- other than tires- i am still a shin etsu guy - mainly cause that tube lasts forever!!
on tires, i have no fav but have somewhere around a dozen choices- depending on how much shine i want.
