Convertible Top Cleaner

As to the original question - I'm guessing that the Porsche is actually a canvas top. If rain was beading up and flying off like you say, he probably had some sort of protectant on it (ScotchGard, 303 Fabric Protector, etc). I know when I treated a client's Benz with the 303 stuff, water just sat up on there like beads on a fresh coat of #16.

I bought the 303 Aerospace Protectant, and though I like the results, I would compare its content to that of Armor All. I think it might be a bit overrated. I think just about any product intended to protect interior from UV rays would probably work.

CARNUTMAMA I was wondering the same thing. I thought it was cloth. Looks and feels pretty much like my 996 cab. I don't know, I hope someone knowledgable chimes in on this.

The S2000 top is a patterned vinyl made to look like cloth. The Raggtopp for cloth is basically parrafin wax I believe along with some other ingredients. Works great on my Porsche top. I use Raggtopp for vinyl for my top as well as using it on my dash the last couple of times.
