Mine sits out in the sun with the top up every day. I'm not as concerned with UV damage as I am dirt and dust. I put the top up and down many times every day. Every time I park it the top goes up and it goes back down as soon as I jump in it. It's my understanding that you want to keep the dirt out of the vinyl fabric because it will wear the fabric faster due to abrasion as the fabric rubs upon itself as the top goes up and down, if it isn't clean.

Like xviper, I treat my top several times a year. I have a product that has a UV inhibitor in it. I would say that it's comparable to the rest of the products on the market. It's made by Finish First, a Zaino competitor.

Another thing to mention is that you may want to get a vinyl cleaner made just for cleaning the vinyl top. I have one from Finish First that is absolutely amazing. I'm finding more uses for it around the house than just the car. It's called 421 MPC and can handle the toughest cleaning jobs with no trouble. It cleans the plastic patio chairs that sit outside on the patio all year and works very well.

One word of caution, if you do decide to use a product to treat the top, apply it on a rag or towel first, then rub it into the top. If you put the vinyl protectant directly on the top, you may get streaking and will probably apply too much protectant. This will cause it to run off when it rains and will look like milk streaks. It will clean up with no trouble, it just looks unsightly.

Funny - I called American Honda about two weeks ago and asked them what material my top was made of. The guy said he would research it and get back to me.

He called me back this evening and said the it was made of "laminated fabric." What the hell is that? Another word for vinyl?

Excellent and very informative thread. My car is still pretty new and I haven't tried to clean the convertible top yet. Glad to learn that it's vinyl. Knowing this will steer me toward the right products for taking care of it. Good, also, to know that it can be washed with the rest of the car on a regular basis.

Thanks, guys!

I clean it every time I wash the car, just use Zaino car was soap to clean the top as well. I would use 303 Aerospace Protectant once every 5 weeks or so. The top looks great afterwards and will still look good after a few washes and being through rain.
