Ok. I have stupid question. How can you tell if you have clear coat or not. It looks so damn shiney. Do the dealership put these on by default or does it comes from the factory that way? The only reason why I'm asking is because I'm going to get some Zanio Z2 and there are 2 kinds. If these cars don't come with it on where can you typically get this? Is it at a body shop?

Yes you have clear coat, basically every car has some type of clear coat, it protects the paint from sun and gives it the shinny look.
Now some car company's use a single stage paint while others use a two stage.. But dont worry they both have clear.

Am I misunderstanding the question, because as far as I know every factory car made came with some sort of clear coat.

I'm not disagreeing with you but I was curious and here is why. I went car shopping with a friend and one car in the show room had a 1000K clear coat add on and it looked shiney as hell and we also looked at one outside and it didn't have that and when we felt the paint, it didn't look and feel as shiney. So I looked at the S and was curious.

Yes your S2000 has clearcoat,

Yes there are older cars with single stage paint without clearcoat.

THe dealer probably just added a $10 sealant to the car to make more money.

Its a ripoff, dealers make more money from add ons than they do from selling the actual car.
