Default Cleaning Windows

I picked up some good tips from Detailed Image, a website, I picked up on this forum. The tips for cleaning the haze which forms on the interior windows especially the windshield as a result of the outgassing of the plasticizers in the vinyl is to use Isopropyl Alcohol before using any preferred cleaner. The recommendation is full strength but I used a 50/50 solution and it was amazing. In just one application on the windshield it removed almost all of the haze. I followed up with Invisible Glass and it has been haze free for several days. I did cover the dash to make sure nothing got on it. The second tip was to use a window cleaning MF towel for the initial wipe and then a clean MF towel for the final wipe before the producct dries so as not to wipe the surface again with the dirty side of the first towel which spreads the stuff you just removed. Or, use the flip side of the dirty towel followed up with the clean towel. You use a few towels but it works great and so far it stays clean.

Another excellent cleaner (and low cost) for that haze is to mix a spray bottle with tap water and one ounce of vinegar. Rather than use a MF towel, try a sheet of newspaper. It works just as well and leaves no lint.

Another tip:

I do the final wipe vertical an the outside and horizontal on the inside. That way I can tell which side the streaks are on.

Our local newspapers are using the soy based ink. It seems to be water soluble and leaves smears so I have been using Bounty and microfibre.
