I have two suggestions for you.

First, try using detailing clay on your wheels. Removing bonded contaminants is what detailing clay is designed to do. After you're done make sure to throw away the piece of clay you used as it will be filled with brake dust. So, you won't want to use it on paint.

Second, try a stronger wheel cleaner. P21S is effective but still rather gentle. I HIGHLY recommend you get yourself some Meguiar's Wheel Brightener. This stuff will take off almost anything. Dilute it 3:1 for EXTREME cleaning and DO NOT let this stuff dry on your wheels. Use Wheel Brightener once then seal your wheels. After that you should be able to clean them with car wash soap for a few months.

agree 100% with mikeyc-

only would add that i wonder if its really brake dust, or if you might now have some pitting or corrosion.

got pics and really close pics?

Good point! I didn't think of that.

What do you seal your wheels with? Thanx!

I'm having exactely the same problem with my rims (3months since last wash). I tried the clay and mothers metal polish.

Can it be pitting or rust? Aren't the rims aluminum? If it is pitting how do I correct it? Should I use a dremel with metal polish.

Thanks in advance.

The rims are aluminum, but they're clearcoated. The rust would be from your brake rotors - brake dust is powdered pad material and rotor material.

Metal polish won't do anything for the wheels, since they are clearcoated. It's essentially the same as the clearcoat on your paint. I would not recommend a dremel on your wheels.

A strong wheel cleaner as MikeyC has recommended and a pressure washer are a good combo, as long as you don't use TOO MUCH pressure. I've got to get some pics of my sister's wheels that I did with that combo. I didn't think they were ever going to come clean.
