Cleaning Hint: Remove Windshield Washer Nozzles
I found out how easy it is to remove the windshield washer nozzles. Having them off leaves the hood completely flat with no obstructions, and makes waxing and polishing very easy. Seems like when the nozzles are in place I get a wax buildup around the bottom and streaking from that area.
To remove the nozzles:
Under the hood just remove the tubing from each nozzle by gently twisting back and forth. Next, squeeze the two nozzle prongs together and it will pop up. I use a flat-bladed screwdriver to get the back prong since I have big clumsy fingers. Finally pluck the nozzles from the top of the hood and put them somewhere safe until you are finished. (Really, make sure you put them somewhere where they won't get washed down a drain or something...) To re-install, just pop them back in and replace the tubing.
CAREFUL!: Remeber the hood is aluminum and easy to bend. If you use a screwdriver be EXTRA careful that you don't slip and damage the hood. When you reinstall the nozzles push gently while supporting the hood from underneath.

Two weeks ago I had to pull off my driver's side. It was clogged with wax and would not spray. The hood was pretty grimy under the nozzle. It was very easy, and a definite "must do" for the next wax.

Excellent idea, I'll try this next time I wax the car. I noticed on my drive into work today that my passenger side nozzel was pretty gunged up, I had thought to try and get the wax out with a cocktail stick or something - it'll be a lot easier with the nozzel off the car

Anyone have to replace the window washer motor?
My s2 is 2001 and no fluid after being garaged for a long time.
I did wash and wax it and will take off the tubes and nozzels to be sure some of the wax didn't clog.
