Cleaning brake dust off painted wheel?
Ever since I got aftermarket wheels, I've been extremely careful when cleaning the wheels and try not to damage the paint at all. Before I just used brush and all that to clean but now I only wipe with microfibre sponge, but of course, that doesn't get rid of the dark dots from brake dust on the wheels.
Just curious as to what product is there I can use to clean them off without damaging the nice paint? Also what type of wax are there available for wheels?
Thanks a lot!

the P21S wheel cleaning gel that Phil sells (just got mine in) is said to be safe for ALL wheel surfaces and is supposed to work great (i can tell you by monday if it does, in fact, hold up to cleaning well). pm phil from detailers domain about it.
btw if you're going to order the wheel cleaning gel from him, i'd suggest thinking about other items you might want to buy from him as well (you can get a discount on it all and why pay for shipping on just one item?) like cockpit premium, wax for your wheels, some really good mf towels, etc

i use the Meguiar wheel cleaner. It says on the instructions, to put a small amount of their product before you actually use it on your wheel.
P21S wheel gel as others have mentioned is good. it only makes a big difference between this and their total auto wash if you leave it on for a long period of time. these are both safe to leave on your wheels because they are a neutral pH and are not corrosive.
If you have volk wheels with anionized finish, i would just use car soap though. I've heard even P21S wheel gel could be bad for it. the total autowash should be fine though. good luck, sir!

If standard car shampoo and a towel isn't getting this stuff off, in my opinion, it's either not brake dust, or it's been left on there too long.
With that said, P21S wheel cleaner gel is absolutely the best stuff I've ever tried. It works like magic and is safe on any wheel I can imagine.
