Clay Baring
Is spending your time with a clay bar going over the car really worth it...
Took me about 20 minutes just to do one door, but i am a perfectionist when it comes to this kind of stuff...
Im hoping it will be worth it....
Any thoughts? Or just spare myself the grueling work in Miami Heat without a fan...
Edit
Yes. It is worth it.
Changed up my Clay bar routine as soon as you guys pointed out the fact that i was overdoing it way to much, like you said, excess isnt bad, but not necessary. Im more than happy with the results now.
Like they said i give about 3 minutes to each section, larger ones 5.
Due to the Miami heat im doing it in small chunks, about 20-30 minutes at a time till i break a nice sweat, than go inside, cool off and read for about 20 minutes, rinse and repeat.

if the car needs it, its worthwhile... did you feel the paint before and after? if so, you prob get it.
clay is the first step- it will remove debris thats stuck in the paint, but it wont help with swirls and other imperfections. for those you need to polish. if you think claying is a pia, just wait til you polish!! (if you are claying properly its not a long process- polishing is)

i was gonna ask why it took sooooo long to do your door????
maybe you are doing it wrong,...in fact you are doing it wrong.
watch some youtube vids to find out how easy it is........just squirt some lube on and wipe .......

you should be able to the "change" while claying...at first you should be able to feel the tension of the clay on the surface....then youll feel it glide more freely when that area is done.

I'd say 5-8 minutes per panel is proper, depending on how dirty it is
just make sure the panels are well lubed, remold the clay often, and give the clay a quick spray before running it over a panel
Question for you guys...
How much lube does it take you to clay the entire s2k?
I think I over saturate my car with clay lube...lol
I use at least a whole container

it is better to use an excess amount of lube than too little, you'll run the risk of marring up the surface if there is too much friction.
if the car is maintained well, then you only need to clay the horizontal sections (hood, trunk, fenders) and check on the vertical surfaces (doors)
