I think this was debated a few threads back with some saying you can and others saying you can't. I think I'm going to try it because NXT just doesn't last long enough.

I just wanted to double check...like stated above...the NXT doesn't last very long....I put a cote of carnuba wax over top and it still looks the same but is very very slippery...seems like it will help it last alot longer

as oc s2k indicated carnuba is fine over nxt, but not under it...
the carnuba should protect the nxt a bit, but will only last about a month or so. just top it again in a month or so with another layer of carnuba

Your wax lifespan depends on your conditions.
Is the car in the garage? Does it stay in the sun for long periods of time? Do you drive the car a lot? Does it rain a lot in your area? What kind of wax is it? (I've read Meguiar's #16 is a long lasting carnuba wax - I have it, but I haven't had it on for that long). P21s seems to last me about 4-6 weeks or so. All that being said, you can tell when your wax is failing by simply washing your car.

Remember that the "bead" test really only applies to wax (carnauba or beeswax). Polymers and synwaxes may not bead as long a time, but still offer protection that outlasts waxes. I was told by an SAE chemist for a major mfr that they have put compounds in polymeric/acrylic products to make the beading more defined, but it has to do with people's perceptions, not reality.
