I read in here, in the olden days when search used to work, that how you fold/unfold the cover can also help. The instructions I'd read were:
Folding/removing: detach a corner, say L front, then detach the L rear. Fold the cover up along the centerline of the car. Then do the same for the R side. The cover is now folded in thirds along the length of the car. Then roll up from the front to the rear, minimizing any dragging along the car. Now it's all folded and rolled at the trunk, ready for storage.
Unfolding/covering: reverse the above.
The point is to minimize any dragging of the cover along the car.
Hope this helps...

I have a weathersheild cover and it is brilliant. Totally water proof and breathable. I only ever use mine when I have just washed the car to limit the scratching effect that might occur. I also fold mine in a similar way to that described above. Also ensures that the outside of the cover does not touch the inside and transfer any dirt.

I use the OEM dustcover every day. I'm in San Diego, so it only ever rains in the winter, and not very often even then. I've only had to put a wet cover in my trunk 3 or 4 times. Then when it stops raining and the sun comes out (almost always later that day), I put the cover back on to dry.
I do have my wife help me shake it out every 2 weeks or so (man that sounds dirty, but it's not ), but I've never washed it. I keep my car pretty clean, so the cover doesn't get very dirty, except down where it rubs the tires.
I've had no problems in the wind, it "grabs" under the front and rear bumpers pretty good. But then, we never get major storms here.
I mostly use it to keep the sun off the car, even though I use 303 on the roof and all the vinyl (it has a sunscreen), Zaino on the paint (it has a sunscreen) and condition the leather every few months. I was going to get one of those window shade things to keep the interior cool when parked, but I figure the car cover does the same job, except on the whole car, and only take a few seconds longer to put on.
Also, in the spring we get a lot of pollen in the air, so the cover helps keep this green "dust" off the car.
Also, I figure if someone door-dings me in the parking lot at work, the cover might cusion the blow a bit.

Yep - totally as in the fabric will hold less than 2% of the water that falls on it. Although its second hand I do not think that it has been washed too often. I have heard that if washed regularly then the waterproof qualities degrade slightly.

My car usually stays in the garage when I am home. Can you suggest a good
car cover for garage use? I would like to cover it if I have washed it recently
and the garage door stays open for hours. Also, if I go on trips for a longer
time, it would be nice to keep the car covered in the garage. Thanks!
