An idiot backed up onto my front bumper/hood w/ his SUV and left black paint and light scratches all over it. I removed his paint w/ fingernail polish remover, used Mequiar's Cleaner Wax and then NXT'd it.

But I still see the scratch marks (like a cat went to town on the top of my car). Any way to buff this stuff out w/ an orbiter or what not? I've applied some touch up paint so as to protect it from the elements.

Thanks

Maybe try http://www.lankga.com but I'm betting it's something his insurance should be covering to get you a new hood!

checkin in!!

agree with vrm vrm-
but if you want to give it a try, try a scratch/swirl remover first (3m makes a good one). if that doesnt get it, then you need to go to a more aggressive compound- or maybe scratch-x...

Thanks guys! It was more like a hit and run. I really think they didn't see me parked behind them. Lesson learned, don't park behind an Escalade!

I remove what people call "bad" scratches all the time.. once the scratch hasn't gone below the clearcoat and metal is showing it can be salvaged to showroom again.. but if I see markings down to the metal, then its re-painting time..

I've had great success with my PC , 3M FCC and 3M SMR..

a while back I did my dad's car's trunk with great results.. if I find the link I'll post it for you again..

Clay bar might help to take some more off, but thats a poor lazy man's solution.
