Buying A PC Really Soon....
I plan on finally buying a PC 7424 really soon. I have been on autogeek looking at all the pads and stuff I think I need. There is alot to choose from and I am not sure what to get. So here are my questions:
1. what size backing plate, and pads should i get?
2. how do the pads attach to the backing plate, and do I have to get anything extra to attach them?
3. how many pads do I need, and quantity for each kind?
4. how do I know what pads are for what?
5. how do you care for the pads and what do I need to get for cleaning them?
6. what place/site is the best place to order? I was thinking autogeek.
7. what are some good products to get scratches out using a PC?
8. also, does anyone use the brush attachments for the PC to clean there carpet?
TIA
Roger

1. I use a 5 inch velcro backing plate with 6.5 inch and 5.5 inch pads.
2. Unless you're using the Edge system, the backing on the pads are velcro as well, so you don't need anything else to attach them to the backing plate
3. Personally, I like to have at least 2 of each pad. Pads get caked up with polish after a while so it's nice to be able to switch pads halfway through a polishing session
4. Most online stores will have a description of each pad on their site, indicating what they are used for. I would recommend 2 light cutting pads, 2 polishing pads, and 2 finishing pads. If you are purchasing from autogeek, these will be colored orange, white, and gray, respectively.
5. Immediately after using them, I soak my pads in a bucket of water while I finishing detailing a car. Afterwards, I take them inside and use hot water and dish soap to get any remaining residue off. Other people use pad cleaners which you can also buy from autogeek
6. autogeek is good, but I've also bought many things from danase.com, properautocare.com, and pakshak.com and have been very happy with them as well.
7. Personally, my recommendations are either the Menzerna line of polishes or the Optimum line of polishes
8. Can't answer this one since I don't use any brush attachments
Hope this helps

replace spam on mine with autogeek as well.
I thought it was a good deal for me I know wanabe doesn't like bundles that much but I thought it was ok .
I also purchased a bunch of other cleaning supplies along with it. I will let you know how it all turns out around Wednesday. Going to give it a go on my dad's car first being how it is in definite need of a polishing.
Also I am curious as well what polish would be recommended? Thanks in advance

i bought my PC on ebay and then ordered the Edge adapter and a few pads from autogeek. I found a really good deal on the PC otherwise I'd have probably gone with a kit. If you search the web a little you can find a coupon code or 2 for autogeek.
