Bug/rock protection
Im gonna be leaving in about a month on a long drive and I was wondering if anyone knew the best way to keep bugs off the front bumper and rock chips from making her look ugly?
a car bra. maybe? But that could scratch the paint if dust and small particles get inside. Somehting temporary would probably be best.
I notice when u put tonnes of wax on the front, the bugs wipe off easier when washing, but on long highway driving the wind will just wipe the wax away, I think.
Oh, and keeping the bugs out of the radiator,,,,,?
any ideas would be great!
THanks

I have the 3M (a.k.a. Stongard, X-Pel, etc.) clear film on the front of my car. 8 mil on the paint and 40 mil on the headlites. As for the rad, I went to an outdoor fabric store and bought a length of plastic/fiberglass mess (2 mm. holes) bug screen, cut it to size, installed it infront of the rad and A/C cannister by temperarily undoingt the plastic shield just under the hood in front of the top of the rad. Works great.

I just bought the colgan bra for use on long trips. Fits really well, and I have not had any problems with flapping. I make sure I take it off when it gets wet, then I let it dry completely.
Before putting it on I used colonite insulator wax on the front bumper-I've tried lots of waxes, but I think this provides the best protection for the nose.

Bang,
thanks for replying to my post......I think I WILL pick it up but can i ask u a few more questions about the bra?
If you've used it already, have u seen any fine scratches where the bra covers the nose? I dont know if u have a black car or not but it REALLY shows up on black
And, u said that u use an insulater wax for the front end? DOes that mean u use something different for the rest of your car? Whats the differnce between 'normal' carnuaba wax and this insulater wax your talking about?
Thanks
