Black paint.... HELP!
Ok so I've got many coats of polish on my S now... so I figure I give my black 03 RAV4 a little attention this weekend. I wash it, surface is suprisingly smooth except for a few spots on the hood so I get the clay out since it did such a sweet job on my S. After claying I give it a few coats of Z5 and was amazed!!!!! Totally awesome deep shine. Unfortunately, later in the day I'm walking past my RAV and the way the light is hitting it, I can see severe marks where I clayed. 3 spots on the hood look like I went over them with sand paper!!!! I walk to a different angle and their gone but if the light is right.... SHIT! What have I done. Why did this happen? I used the clay bar exactly the same way I did on my S, spray first then gently rub clay and wipe dry....

not good... this is the (usually minor) risk to using clay. sounds like yours picked up some grit.
now you will need to try a compound of some sort-
i would first try the least aggressive (a swirl remover). if that doesnt work, you will need a more aggressive compound.

This doesn't help now but I cut my clay into smaller pieces and change them with each body panel. I use the clay and then throw it away.
Meguiar's Dual Action Cleaner Polish (DACP) and a Porter Cable (PC) polisher with a white pad will take care of those surface scratches.
