Default Black Magic Engine Cleaner

Anyone used this? Just bought a bottle. Hope it's safe for the Valve cover also.

I prefer to do it in two steps, degrease then shine. I actually WASH my engine bays and wash off the grime, so I can't think this is a good product. I think it will just shine up the dirt so that the engine bay LOOKS clean, but it isn't clean at all. In both my cars, you can run a white glove anywhere you want it will come back clean.

I agree, if your dirts not being washed off and dripping on to the ground, its not going anywhere.

I've used Black Magic products in the past and have liked them. I'd be willing to try this stuff for sure. In the past I've just used some hot water and Dawn dishwashing soap..."Dawn takes grease out of your way!"...and followed up with tire foam...the shinier you want the engine, the more coats of tire foam you use. This has been a pretty successful combination for me. I'm always looking for an easier, better way tho'.

I actually used this on my engine bay. It was not VERY dirty when I used it but I bought the car from someone who obviously never touched the engine bay in nearly 2 years. Did a nice job and I went ahead and touched up the plastics with a nice coating of 303. Good, and easy product to use. Put up some pictures with before and after if you can.

I have used it on my S10. It worked well, but it stained up the bare aluminum so I decided not to use it on the S.

Meguiar's has just announced a new Engine Cleaner product, which will be available early 2011. It's "formulated with non-caustic cleaners" and is supposed to be "safe on sensitive engine parts." This may be good product for those of us who try not to allow our engines to fall into a state of utter grunginess.

Blah, all "sensitive" engine parts are sealed away. Buy any degreaser you want, wash your bay, and dress it up. No need to spend tons on fancy degreasers. The only thing, degreasers will strip WANTED grease as well as unwanted grease, so just make sure you relube where necessary.
