Bird poo == the devil.

As a rule, if it's a car that I care about, and it lives outside, I try to have a look at it once a day to make sure none of our fine feathered friends have left any deposits on it. Many (all?) of my friends think I'm a bit of a nutjob.

I've decided to break out my Beretta 12ga. O/U and thin out the birdie population.

My wife has a new lexus and I take care of the waxing, cleaning, etc.. I make her carry some microfibers and detail spray for wipe offs from bird shit, tar, big bugs, etc.. She thinks I am nuts, but she does not have to fix any problems with the paint. So she obliges me.

I've had bird crap sit on my hood for a few hours, then when I washed it off, there was etching in the clear coat. The bottm line is, I will not be able to keep my car perfect, without blemish. It sits outside, it drives outside, it will take slight abuse.

All I can do is do my best: wash and wax my car and be as careful as I can.

From experience bmw paint is very soft, and in my opinion one of the worst paints out there.

I have an 06 325CI Imola Red. Every bird dropping, every spot of water etches into the paint. I am disappointed in the quality of the paint. I thought possibly it was because of it being Red that it showed absolutely everything.

The S2000 paint is hands down the best paint I have had on any car.
